The Lakeland Compassion Team is made up of a group of amazingly talented and compassionate individuals that serve the Lakeland community and its surrounding areas. They practice as Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Registered State Interns, and Professional Life Coaches. Our Team Core Beliefs are grounded in prioritizing God, Family, and Self-Care before service to ensure that our professionals are at their best emotionally and spiritually within their personal lives so that they can provide the highest quality of care for our clients. Our Lakeland Compassion team engages in continued professional development throughout the year to stay up to date on effective intervention strategies for improving the mental health of our clients.

Sarah is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who desires to help her clients find hope and healing through the use of evidenced based practices and Biblical insight. She creates a collaborative and client-centered experience for her clients, tailoring each session to meet their individual needs. Sarah’s experience in community mental health has allowed her to support adolescents, adults, and families through a trauma informed lens. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, anger management, depression, trauma, social issues, and relationships.
Sarah utilizes therapeutic modalities and interventions including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Focuses Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness interventions, and Christian Counseling. She is passionate about creating a safe space that will allow her clients to feel comfortable and supported as they begin their journey towards healing.

Stephanie Dow, M.A.

Stephanie is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern who has a heart for meeting people where they are by looking at the whole person, including physical, mental, spiritual, social, and emotional well-being. She believes that empathy and safety from a counselor are the cornerstones of successful healing. Her background includes working with Human Trafficking Survivors, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, and childhood attachment. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Counseling with a Specialization in Clinical Mental Health.
Stephanie provides individual counseling services for teens and adults navigating through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, boundaries, self-care and stress management, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, narcissistic abuse, or childhood attachment trauma. Her approach to therapy includes utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), and Christian Counseling. She is also trained in providing Pre-marital counseling for couples.

Breanna Nelson, Ed. S.

Breanna specializes in helping children and adolescents in a multitude of capacities. Her passion for helping others has resulted in 6+ years in the field, with experience working in elementary, middle, and high schools. She offers both individual counseling and psychological evaluation services to identify challenges that may be hindering success at home and school. Testing for gifted intelligence, learning disabilities, cognitive deficits, intellectual disabilities, social-emotional/behavioral disabilities, executive functioning deficits, and autism spectrum disorders are offered by Breanna.
In the therapeutic environment, Breanna utilizes a combination of approaches dependent on the needs of the client. These may include cognitive behavioral strategies, positive psychology foundations, and humanistic realization. Helping children and teens to identify their strengths and gifts is a vital link to promoting confidence, self-esteem, and independence. Breanna has experience helping children and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, life changes, history of trauma, obsessive compulsive disorders, grief, executive functioning stressors, anger, and more.
